Story behind the song
On June 10, 1991, I wrote this song after day after day, all work, No play. I was exhausted from working on our farm, raising a family and late nights playing music. I thought about when I was a kid. My parents home was not far from a river. I use to go there and sit on the river bank and skip stones into the water. It was so peaceful and quiet.
Lyrics
"I Could Use A Quiet Day" Sittin' alone, by the rivers edge. All alone, Nothin' said. Here I'll find serenity, Right now thats all I need. Hot sun warms a summer breeze, takin' me, away from me Heal my soul, Natures way And I could use a quiet day. Chorus: And I'd listen to that river's, peaceful waters flow And I'd follow right behind it where ever it might go Leaving all my troubles, fast and far behind Let them roll around the bend, out of sight and out of mind. Lately. I've been pushin' me hard To get ahead, Reachin' to far Sleepless nights, Long time days, I just got to get away Lay this tired ole body down, on some good ole country ground. Heal my soul, Natures way. And, I could use a quiet day. Chorus:
